Who We Are

The Youth Art Coalition is a non-profit, 501©3, an after-school and summer program for students in the Scranton area. Our mission is to engage, support, develop, and mentor the youth in our community, preparing them to reach their full potential through multidisciplinary arts expression and creative reflection in structured after-school and summer programs, including visual arts, musical instructions, and hands-on theater production. The programs are available to children in grades 5 – 8 (middle school ages) at no cost to ensure access to those in economic need. Music and art programs have proven to provide many benefits to the development of children, specifically in the areas of increased motor skills, decision-making, inventiveness, therapeutics, and improved academic performance. Additionally, research demonstrates that music advances a child's ability to excel in science and math.

We provide these services after school and during the summer in the West Scranton Youth Center (WSYC), which is shared and partnered with the West Scranton Wrestling Alumni Association on Washburn Street in West Scranton. Nutritious snacks will be served to the children coming to our programs after school and during the summer.
